Questions & Expanded Answers

When and where is the fest?

Friday, March 31, 2017 from 7:00-11:00pm AND Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 2pm – 6:30pm  (VIP 6:00pm Friday, 1pm Saturday)

Dallas, TX 75226

If you decide to drive to the event, you can enter through either Gate 5 or Gate 6. See the gate map here.

If I buy tickets, which day(s) can I attend?

Big Texas Beer Fest is a 2-day affair, but your tickets are ONLY VALID for Friday or Saturday. It depends on which ticket you purchase. If you bought Friday tickets, they’re not valid on Saturday, and vice versa.

As an attendee, what is the focus of this event, and what can I expect?

When we set out to throw a craft beer festival in Dallas, our main focus was throwing an event we would personally want to go to. As craft beer fans, we have been to lots of other festivals, and there are good and bad things about each one. At our event, you can expect a fun, boisterous crowd, that appreciates craft beer that’s made with care and attention. You’ll find 120+ booths with several beers at most for you to sample and enjoy. Often times, the head brewmaster or owner of each brewery will be at the booth to talk about what they do, and how they do it. This event is about enjoying, and exploring beer through a journey unlike many events or festivals you’ve been to. Occasionally we invite neat or interesting vendors which compliment the beer industry well.

I can't find my emailed tickets, where are they?

Your tickets are generally delivered shortly after purchase to the email address you provide. If you didn’t receive them, it may have been a typo of your email address during your purchase. If it’s been more than a few hours and you can’t find them, contact Eventbrite via email at support@eventbrite.com and request a re-sent ticket confirmation, OR view the Eventbrite Help Center article “Where are my Tickets?” for additional steps.

My bank charged me 5 times for the tickets, or I'm an international credit card holder.

First, if your card is declined it’s usually because you entered the incorrect billing address or zip code. If you attempt to run it 2-3 times before figuring out the mistake, your bank will hold the funds for a few days before releasing them. We aren’t holding those dollars, so we can’t give them back. Please contact your issuing bank to see if they can release them back to you early, but they’ll drop off in 3-5 business days automatically.

Second, if you’re an international card holder, we don’t normally accept credit cards from non-US banks. We will if you contact us so we can enable this feature temporarily. So please drop us a note and we’ll gladly help you out.

You've added a Friday session, what's different between the two?

There are no major differences between Friday and Saturday sessions. Occasionally, we will have a rare beer which will only last the duration of a single session. As craft beer nerds, we know which beers these are.

We’ll do our best to evenly split these unique beers between Friday and Saturday. That way, no matter which session you attend there will be something unique for you to enjoy.

Where's the beer list?

The beer list drops approximately 1 week prior to the event. When we release it, you’ll find it on our Festival Info page. NOTE: Our event has always sold out, so please don’t wait on the beer list to make your ticket purchase.

In the meantime, check the Festival Info page for last year’s list, so that you have an example of the quality of beers you might find at our event.

I’d like to help out, what can I do? Do you need volunteers?

We absolutely need volunteers! If you volunteer your time for the full session on Friday or Saturday, your entry for the opposite day is on us. Please check back to this page shortly and we’ll post the link to sign up!

In the meantime, if you’d like to pour beer for a brewery at the event, grab your TABC certification online.

I bought tickets for Friday, can I come Saturday too? Or use them on another day?

If you buy tickets for Friday, you can ONLY attend the Friday session. The same is true for Saturday. Your Saturday tickets are NOT valid Friday, they are ONLY valid on Saturday.

If you want to attend both days, you’ll need to buy tickets to each session. Please don’t show up to the incorrect session, as your tickets won’t be valid to enter.

Can I exchange my Friday tickets for Saturday?

We have no way to switch your ticket after you purchase. If you bought the wrong day, please notify us ASAP at our contact page. If you contact us a day or two before the event, we won’t be able to help.

What are the advantages of purchasing VIP tickets?

VIP patrons gain access to the festival 1 hour prior to general admission attendees. VIP attendees will have wristbands, a dedicated entrance at least 2 hours into the event, and in-and-out privileges. We pre-scan all VIP tickets so that you can take advantage of as much of the extra 1 hour as possible to sample all the special beers we will have to offer.

VIPs receive both a glass AND plastic tasting. Please note: we are unable to replace dropped/broken glasses so please be careful with your glasses and cups.

Will you have any special beers I can’t buy at my local store?

Absolutely! That’s one of our main goals, and we promise to have lots of special beers at our festival that you can’t find on any store shelves, or anywhere in North Texas. Ask previous attendees and they’ll confirm that our brewers bring the goods for this event.

Do you offer Designated Driver tickets?

While we encourage attendees who choose to drive to arrange safe transportation, we do not offer a special ticket for Designated Drivers. Everyone who wants to attend the event, whether drinking or not, must purchase a full-priced ticket. While craft beer is the focus of the event, it’s not the only thing that will be going on that day. We’ll have a bunch of neat local vendors, a limited amount of free samples of local food/drinks, free spring drinking water, and live music acts throughout the weekend. In most years, many of our vendors offer neat or interesting entertainment options. In 2017, we’ve partnered with Free Play Arcade to have a mini-arcade with all games set on free play. If you choose not to drink, that’s completely at your option.

We intentionally chose Fair Park, so that the DART rail offers a safe transportation alternative within walking distance of our event. We have no way of distinguishing who drinks and doesn’t as we don’t wristband our folks to save everyone time at the entry gates.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

Why should I purchase advance tickets to the fest?

This event has sold out every year since its inception, and last year it sold out several days in advance. A large part of making sure this event is successful assumes we’ll sell tickets ahead of time to make sure it’s an awesome event. We’re a husband and wife team dedicated to making this the best event possible. We’re simply asking for your help so we know how much beer to have on hand.

Why don’t you offer unlimited beer samples with admission?

The state of Texas does not allow “unlimited tasting” events. The maximum amount of beer Texas allows to be sold at any one time is 24 ounces. We don’t like the 24oz limitation at a beer festival as much as you don’t, and that’s why we’re pricing additional sampling cards really low. The day of the festival, you’ll be able to purchase additional (12) 2oz sample cards for only $2! Legally we have to charge you something.

Can I bring my child?

Please make arrangements for all children prior to attending the festival. No one under the age of 21 will be permitted entrance to the event. This include infants. Anyone with a child will not be admitted, no exceptions.

Why are there lines to get in?

Many people will arrive early to the festival, and a line to get in to a beer fest is inevitable. The lines will move quickly if you have your ID and tickets ready. Additionally, VIP tickets will be limited, will have a dedicated entry, the VIP tickets will be pre-scanned for quick entrance, and will allow entry 1 hour prior to general admission tickets. The last 2 years we had over 90% of our VIP attendees in the door in 5 minutes. If you don’t like waiting in line, we highly recommend buying VIP.

Will there be any food or non-alcoholic beverages available?

There will be plenty of food trucks available in our “food and music pavilion” outdoors, with a wide variety of food options available for purchase. Free water will be available throughout the festival hall. Some vendors may choose to provide food or non-alcoholic beverage samples, and other non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from our food truck vendors. Some trucks may take cash only. We recommend bringing cash or using one of our on site ATMs.

Are there any public transportation options?

Of course, it’s a beer festival! We chose the Fair Park Automobile Building due to the myriad of choices. The DART rail (http://www.dart.org/riding/dartrail.asp) arrives just a few hundred feet from the facility and costs only $5 for a round-trip ticket.

What are the parking options?

Fair Park has tons of parking available, and they set the price at $10. Please be prepared, and bring cash. We don’t set the prices, and have no control over the charges.

You can enter through either Gate 5 or Gate 6 to park. See the gate map here.

Why are the tasting cups small?

Please remember, this is a beer tasting event, not a beer drinking event. We encourage you to try many different beers to see all that craft beer has to offer! Our General Admission tasting cups are made of hard clear acrylic, which is odorless and tasteless. If you prefer to drink from a real glass, grab a VIP ticket!

Who benefits from the event?

A portion of the proceeds benefit the North Texas Food Bank (www.ntfb.org). We chose them because hunger is a major problem in North Texas, and 94% of their funds go directly to their mission. They’re highly efficient, and we want to support them!

Who is responsible for throwing the Big Texas Beer Fest?

The event is being thrown by Chad and Nellie Montgomery, two craft beer enthusiasts who reside in Dallas, TX. Please visit our About Us page to find out more.
